The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, better known as OPEC, is an intergovernmental organisation whose Secretariat supports cooperation among its member countries on petroleum policy and related energy matters. Because OPEC is frequently mentioned in connection with oil-market meetings, research, statistics and official statements, its Vienna headquarters is also an important point of contact for governments, accredited delegates, researchers, journalists and organisations seeking authoritative information.
OPEC’s Secretariat is based in the historic centre of Vienna, Austria. The office should not be confused with the headquarters of OPEC Fund for International Development, which is a separate institution. The details below focus on the OPEC Secretariat itself, including the verified address, main telephone line, official contact route and practical points to know before sending correspondence or planning a visit.

OPEC Headquarters Location
The Secretariat is in Vienna’s Innere Stadt, the central first district. This places the office within the city’s main administrative and business area and makes it accessible by Vienna’s extensive public-transport network. Visitors should remember that access to an international organisation’s office may be controlled and that a published postal address does not automatically mean walk-in access.
- Area: Vienna 1st District (central Vienna).
- Public transport: Use Vienna city rail, tram or bus services and complete the final part of the journey on foot or by local transport.
- Visitor planning: Confirm the purpose of the visit and any appointment or accreditation requirement in advance.
- Postal correspondence: Include the responsible department or recipient name whenever known.
OPEC Headquarters Contact Number
OPEC publishes a main Secretariat telephone line for callers who need to reach the organisation. For specialised matters, the appropriate department or online contact route may be more useful than treating the switchboard as a general helpdesk.
| Contact Purpose | Details |
| OPEC Secretariat main line | +43 1 211 12 0 |
| General public enquiry | Use the OPEC contact form or main line |
| Media/research requests | Use the relevant OPEC website section or departmental contact route |
OPEC Headquarters Email Id and Online Contact
OPEC does not present a single universal public email address as the general headquarters inbox on its main contact information. The safer route is the official OPEC contact form, which directs the enquiry through the organisation’s own website. Department-specific details may also be published for media, publications or other functions.
- General communication: Use the official contact form on opec.org.
- Media matters: Follow the media and press contact information published by OPEC.
- Publications and data: Check the relevant publications or data section before sending a general request.
- Security: Do not rely on email addresses copied from unofficial directories.
How to Reach OPEC Headquarters
The headquarters is in central Vienna, so public transport is usually the most practical option. International visitors arriving at Vienna International Airport can connect to the city by rail, airport train, bus or taxi before continuing to the first district.
- By rail/metro: Use Vienna’s urban rail network to reach the central district, then continue locally.
- By taxi: Give the full street address, Helferstorferstrasse 17, 1010 Vienna.
- From the airport: Rail and road links connect Vienna International Airport with the city centre.
- Before arrival: Confirm whether the meeting, event or visit requires prior registration or identification.
OPEC Headquarters vs OPEC Fund Headquarters
| OPEC Secretariat | OPEC Fund for International Development |
| Represents OPEC, the petroleum-exporting-country organisation | A separate international development finance institution |
| Located at Helferstorferstrasse 17, Vienna | Has its own Vienna offices and contact channels |
| Handles OPEC institutional, policy, research and Secretariat functions | Handles development financing and related operations |
| Use opec.org for official contact | Use the OPEC Fund’s own official website |
The similar names can cause confusion. Correspondence intended for OPEC should be addressed to the OPEC Secretariat, not automatically to the OPEC Fund.
